'Chargsheet aimed at silencing me': MP Ruhullah

Srinagar, Apr 13 (UNI) A day after Jammu & Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) filed a charge sheet against 22 individuals including sitting Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah in an alleged land compensation fraud case, the National Conference leader termed it a “tactics” to “silence” him due to his opposition to the revocation of Article 370 and BJP policies.
The ACB on Saturday filed a chargesheet before the Special Anti-Corruption Court in Srinagar against 22 accused, including sitting MP, two former Collectors of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA), four retired public servants, and 16 beneficiaries, in a land compensation fraud case dating back to 2009.
MP Ruhulla said the land in question is in Bemina, Durbal, Dandusa, and was acquired by the government two decades ago.
He claimed to be a third-generation heir to the land, originally belonging to his grandfather.
“I have no active or passive role in the negotiation, valuation, or any corruption. The custodian of the land was his uncle, who handled all related matters. They weren’t even contacted by the ACB or police in 20 years until the chargesheet was filed,” the MP said.
He linked the issue to broader political pressure, including what they describe as BJP’s targeting of minorities and Muslims.
“I will not be bogged down by these childish acts,” he said.
Ruhullah said this case has no substance and has been built on baseless grounds.
“It is an attempt to suppress my dissenting voice. This is a deliberate effort to intimidate me using agencies like the ACB. I suggest they also involve the NIA, so that real corrupt individuals can be exposed,” he said.
He asserted that he would not be silenced.
“I will only become silent when the constitutional rights and dignity of J&K are restored,” he added.
