56 climbers summit Mt Qomolangma from Nepal side

Kathmandu, May 14 (UNI) A total of 56 climbers had reached the top of Mount Qomolangma from the Nepali side during the spring climbing season, Nepal's Department of Tourism said on Wednesday.
Among them, 40 scaled the world's tallest peak at 8,848.86 meters on Wednesday morning, including eight from China, six from Ukraine, two from the Czech Republic, and one each from Japan and Britain.
"We have reports that 56 climbers had successfully reached the summit as of Wednesday morning after the ropes were fixed," Himal Gautam, director at the department, told Xinhua.
On May 9, a team of Sherpa guides from 8K Expeditions installed the ropes to the peak which straddles Nepal and China.
The first 16 climbers summited it on May 10 and 11, according to the department.
"The weather improved on Wednesday, but it is likely to deteriorate from Friday," Lakpa Sherpa, managing director at 8K Expeditions, said.
Nepal has issued permits for 456 climbers to scale the tallest peak during the spring climbing season that started in April and runs through May.
