New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) Virat Kohli's wife, actress Anushka Sharma penned a deeply personal message following the cricketing legend’s decision to bid farewell to international cricket.
Former UK PM Rishi Sunak also paid heartfelt tribute.
Taking to social media platform X, Sunak expressed disappointment at not being able to watch Kohli play one last time this summer, describing the former India captain as "a superb batsman, an astute captain, and a formidable competitor."
He added, "Sad we won't get to see Virat Kohli one last time this summer. He has been a legend of the game... who always understood the true value of Test cricket."
Meanwhile, Anushka Sharma in a deeply personal message, reflected on the emotional toll and silent sacrifices behind the cricketer’s illustrious career.
"They’ll talk about the records and the milestones — but I'll remember the tears you never showed, the battles no one saw, and the unwavering love you gave this format of the game," she wrote.
"Somehow, I always imagined you’d retire international cricket in whites — but you’ve always followed your heart, and so I just want to say, my love, you’ve earned every bit of this goodbye," she added.
Kohli, who last played a Test match earlier this year, has not made an official statement on his retirement at the time of writing, but tributes have already begun pouring in from across the cricketing world.
