AP CM announces P4 Initiative to support underprivileged by wealthy

Vijayawada, Mar 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced that the government is creating a platform under the P4 initiative to enable the wealthy to support the underprivileged.
The ‘Zero Poverty – P4’ program will be launched on Ugadi. The CM reviewed its final structure at the Secretariat on Monday.

He pointed out that participation in P4 is entirely voluntary, and no one should be pressured to contribute. NRIs can also take part in this initiative, much like the Janmabhoomi program implemented during his previous tenure, which received widespread public support.

The platform is open to anyone willing to offer support, and the government’s role is only to connect donors with beneficiaries—no additional financial aid would be provided by the State, Naidu asserted.

The Chief Minister stressed the need to inspire the affluent to step forward and contribute, ensuring that the selection of beneficiaries, termed ‘Bangaru Kutumbam’ (Golden Families), is free from errors.

“The donors will be referred to as ‘Margadarsi’ (Guides). The final list of beneficiaries will be determined transparently through Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas to avoid disputes,” he revealed.

The Chief Minister clarified that P4 is independent of the Government’s welfare schemes and is aimed at uplifting the most disadvantaged sections of society. He instructed officials to ensure there was no public confusion regarding the program.

For the Ugadi launch event in Amaravati, at least one representative from each village and one bus from every constituency should be arranged to bring participants, he ordered the officials.
“The ultimate goal of the Government is to eradicate poverty and improve living standards. In the first phase, 20 lakh families will benefit, and the program will continue until the state achieves the Zero Poverty goal,” Naidu said.
