AP CM announces Rs 5 lakh financial assistance to woman harassed over loan

Vijayawada, June 17 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu spoke to Sirisha, a victim of inhumane treatment in Narayanapuram village, Kuppam mandal, Chittoor district, where she was allegedly tied to a tree over a loan dispute.

The Chief Minister consoled her over the phone and enquired about the incident in detail. The Chief Minister asked if she had faced harassment from the perpetrators earlier, to which she replied that they had troubled her on multiple occasions. Sirisha shared with the Chief Minister that both she and her children were living in fear following the incident.

The Chief Minister described the incident as unfortunate and said such acts were unacceptable. He stated that he had already instructed officials to take strict action against those who behaved without humanity. He also inquired about the education of Sirisha’s children and advised her to ensure they continue their studies well.

Assuring her that the government would stand by her in all possible ways, the Chief Minister encouraged her to remain strong. After learning about Sirisha’s financial struggles and her difficulties in supporting her children’s education due to debt, the CM immediately announced Rs 5 lakh in financial assistance. He also assured her over the phone that the government would take full responsibility for the education of her three children.

Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to submit a report on the incident and the developments thereafter, and to ensure the victim’s family receives all necessary support without delay.

Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of police Parthasarathi told the media in Kuppam in Chittoor district that the police registered murder attempt cases against four persons in connection with the tying of a woman to tree for not repaying a debt of Rs 80,000. The four persons were arrested and were being produced before court.
