Vijayawada, June 14 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalayan ordered for a thorough investigation into the fire accident which took place at the famous spiritual place at Kurma village in Srikakulam district on June 10.
In a statement here on Saturday, deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj Pawan Kalyan said that it is unfortunate that Kurma village, which was designed to live with spiritual thoughts without modern amenities, was destroyed by fire.
“I have instructed the authorities concerned to conduct a thorough investigation into the fire accident that took place in Kurma village near Hiramandalam in Srikakulam district. At a time when suspicions are being expressed about this incident, an investigation should be conducted from that angle as well. We will talk to the district authorities about the current situation in Kurma village and provide them with the necessary assistance,” he said.
The Kurma village was established under the auspices of ISKCON for a traditional religious life. The residents of Kurma village live in houses built using soil and practice natural farming, unlike the mechanical way of life. The children who study Vedic education speak Sanskrit, Telugu, Hindi and English fluently. Focus should be placed on the revival of this village, which is unique in the present times, Pawan Kalyan asserted.
