AP: Two debt-ridden farmers end life in Palnadu district

Narasaraopet, June 17 (UNI) Two debt-ridden farmers allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide in two different villages in Palnadu district in Chilakaluripet constituency of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.



Police said that a farmer Chiruboina Gopala Rao (40) at Tubadu village consumed pesticide. Family members said that he incurred loss due to crop damage. Unable to repay debts he committed suicide by consuming pesticide at his agriculture field and died.



Another farmer Nasyam Adinarayana (45) allegedly committed suicide at Nadendla village. Family members said that he borrowed money from money leaders to raise crops in his leased agriculture field but he incurred loss due to withering of crops. Unable to face the pressure mounted by the money lenders, he took the extreme step by consuming pesticide at his agriculture field.

The police registered cases and shifted the two bodies to the Chilakaluripet GGH for postmortem.



Responding to the suicides of two farmers, YSRCP leader and former Minister Vidadala Rajani expressed concern over the suicides of farmers.

The former Minister consoled the bereaved families at Chilakaluripet GGH. She demanded the government to announce ex gratia to the two bereaved families.
