Apuia savours ISL semifinal screamer

Kolkata, Apr 8 (UNI) A breathtaking injury-time strike from Lalengmawia Ralte, popularly known as Apuia, sent Mohun Bagan Super Giant into their third consecutive Indian Super League (ISL) final, as the Mariners edged past Jamshedpur FC 3–2 on aggregate in a gripping semifinal second leg at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Monday.
Having missed the first leg due to an ankle injury sustained during national duty, Apuia marked his return in spectacular fashion, rifling home a right-footed shot from the edge of the box in the dying minutes of regulation time. The goal, which sealed a dramatic turnaround, will go down as one of the most iconic moments in the Mariners' recent history.
Mohun Bagan SG entered the second leg trailing 1–2 on aggregate and needed to win by a two-goal margin to book a spot in the final. Jamshedpur FC, missing key players like Stephen Eze, Ashutosh Mehta, and Mobashir Rahman due to suspensions, put up a commendable defensive show under head coach Khalid Jamil, frustrating the hosts for most of the game.
