Arunachal Guv calls for united action to end plastic pollution

Itanagar, June 5 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik has urged the people of the State to actively support the nationwide campaign ‘One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution’, launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on the occasion of the World Environment Day 2025.
The campaign, aligned with the Government of India’s Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) initiative, encourages every citizen to adopt sustainable practices and firmly reject the use of
single-use plastics.
Highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s lush forests and vibrant cultural heritage, the Governor
emphasized the State’s responsibility as one of India’s greenest regions to lead by example in environmental stewardship.
“As India unites under this campaign, let us in Arunachal Pradesh lead the way. It’s time to move
from awareness to action,” the Governor said in his message.
He appealed to the people to reduce the utilization of single-use plastics, adopt eco-friendly alternatives, and practice responsible waste segregation and recycling.
“Every small step counts,” the Governor said, adding that “through clean-up drives, school-led initiatives, and community efforts, we can contribute meaningfully to protecting the State’s rivers, forests, and future generations”.
He stated that the State Govt is committed to supporting nationwide and global efforts to curb plastic waste through strong policy measures, active public engagement, and collaboration with industries, educational institutions, and local communities.
“On this World Environment Day, I appeal to all citizens of Arunachal Pradesh to join the movement, inspire change, and help end plastic pollution. Our actions today will shape the environment of tomorrow. Together, let’s build a cleaner Arunachal and a greener India,” the Governor added.
