Assam Rifles chief stresses on preparedness to meet emerging security challenges

Nongkrem, Mar 25 (UNI) Director General of Assam Rifles, Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, has underscored the importance of securing the Indo-Myanmar border and maintaining stability in the Kashmir Valley, stressing the need for preparedness to address emerging security challenges.
Addressing the Assam Rifles Commander Conference 2025 at the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles here in Meghalaya, Lakhera urged continued vigilance in light of the volatile and dynamic security environment.

He also praised commanders for their efforts in maintaining peace and stability in their respective areas of responsibility.
The Assam Rifles chief also commended the ranks for their professionalism and exceptional performance despite challenging circumstances.
The conference brought together Formation Commanders, Battalion Commanders, and Staff Officers to deliberate on key operational and administrative matters.
The commanders highlighted the necessity of enhancing the combat potential and operational readiness of the Assam Rifles.
“Discussions included plans to acquire next-generation weapons and military equipment, alongside strategies to improve training and skill development for personnel,” an Assam Rifles official said.
Emphasis was also placed on fostering the exchange of best practices to enhance the overall efficiency of the force, he said.
The event also recognized units for their contributions to promoting the Hindi language.
The prestigious Rajbhasha Trophies 2025 were awarded to the 27th Assam Rifles, which secured first place, Headquarters Inspectorate General Assam Rifles (South), which took second, and the 28th Assam Rifles, which came in third.
The conference served as a platform for addressing critical issues related to operational readiness, administrative challenges, and human resource management.
