Bangladesh recall in-form opener Anamul Haque for second Zimbabwe Test

Bangladesh recall in-form opener Anamul Haque for second Zimbabwe Test

Dhaka, Apr 24 (UNI) In-form opener Anamul Haque is in line to play his first Test in almost three years after he won a recall to Bangladesh's squad for the second and final Test against Zimbabwe
in Chattogram.
Anamul hasn't played a red-ball fixture since he appeared against the West Indies in June 2022, but the 32-year-old earns a call-up to a 15-player squad on the back of some excellent efforts at domestic level.
The right-hander has hit consecutive centuries for Gazi Group in the Dhaka Premier League and could be in contention to add to his five previous Test appearances as Bangladesh attempt to
square their two-match series at home against Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe shocked the hosts with a three-wicket triumph in the opening Test of the series in Sylhet and Bangladesh have responded by making two changes to their squad for the second Test that commences at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on April 28.
Uncapped left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam is included in the squad alongside Anamul, while opener Zakir Hasan and pacer Nahid Rana are the two players to drop out, an ICC report said.
Bangladesh squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shadman Islam, Anamul Haque, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Jaker Ali, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Tanvir Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Khaled Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
