BRS to develop IT industry after regaining power in Telangana in three years: KTR

Hyderabad, June 3 (UNI) Telangana former IT Minister and BRS Working President K. Tarakarama Rao (KTR) on Tuesday assured that upon returning to power in three years, the BRS government would further expand and develop the IT industry.
Addressing CEOs at IT companies, KTR stated that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will bring significant benefits in the future.
He emphasised that collaboration between governments and IT companies is essential for India’s youth to compete in the AI sector.
KTR, while commenting on the current situation in the USA, highlighted the potential for small and medium-sized IT companies to establish offshore centres in India.
He claimed the IT and related policies were introduced under Chief Minister KCR’s leadership for transforming Hyderabad into a landmark for IT in just nine years.
The former IT Minister noted that revolutionary approaches in innovation and incubation led to unprecedented growth in Hyderabad’s IT sector.
In 2014, Hyderabad had only 3,23,000 IT jobs, but by the time BRS left office, this number had risen to 10 lakh, KTR said.
Many globally renowned tech companies established their largest offices outside the USA in Hyderabad, he said.
Due to current global conditions, KTR predicted that many tech companies would look to set up offshore centers in India, with the IT industry potentially expanding to Tier-2 cities.
He noted that the post-COVID era has shown that work can be done for any company from anywhere in the world.
He highlighted that during BRS’s nine-year rule, the IT industry was extended to Tier-2 cities in Telangana.
The government established IT hubs in 10 such cities, offering rent-free facilities in the first year, plug-and-play infrastructure, and various incentives. For instance, NTT Data, set up in Adilabad, is progressing remarkably with 500 IT professionals, he said.
KTR pointed out that while multinational giants like Amazon and Google may not move to Tier-2 cities, small and medium-sized IT companies can.
He emphasized the vast opportunities in India’s Tier-2 cities, which have good rail and road connectivity, predicting remarkable developments in the next two decades. Quoting former US President John F. Kennedy, who said the USA became a wealthy nation by investing in highways, KTR urged the central and state governments to recognize the importance of infrastructure development for national progress.
He called on investors to contribute to their motherland, stating that India’s youth are eagerly awaiting such opportunities.
On this occasion, several IT company representatives remarked that the IT industry’s growth in Telangana has slowed down. However, they specifically praised the IT sector’s development during BRS’s nine-year rule, not only in Hyderabad but also for extending IT to Tier-2 cities, demonstrating how small and medium-sized companies can operate profitably in India.
