Chirag yet to decide on contesting Bihar assembly elections

Patna, June 7 (UNI) Union Minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan on Saturday kept his cards close to his chest on the possibility of contesting Bihar assembly elections due later this year, saying only the party's parliamentary board would take a final call.
Paswan, on his arrival from New Delhi, told media that some elements were creating confusion in the NDA on his contesting the assembly elections. "So far as the question of my contesting election is concerned, it would be decided by the parliamentary board of the party", he added.
"A party president or Union minister contesting state assembly elections is nothing new as the BJP itself has done it in the past," said the LJP leader, adding such decisions were taken to improve strike rate of the party.
He said his only intention was to improve the performance of his party in the election.
"The next government will be formed by the NDA under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar again with more seats in the kitty," Paswan said in an implicit attempt to dismiss speculation that he was in the race for the CM's post.
The LJP leader said his party would organise rallies in clusters of five-six districts in days ahead. A big rally would be organised by his party in Ara on Sunday, which would mark the launching of the campaign for the assembly elections, he added.
