Commission agents flouting laws in Solan Vegetable Market, allege farmers

Solan, Apr 16 (UNI) The vegetable market located in Kather, Solan, has once again come under the scanner as farmers have raised serious allegations against some arhtiyas (commission agents), accusing them of colluding with Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) officials.
Farmers have claimed that despite repeated complaints, no strict action has been taken against the erring arhtiyas.
According to them, whenever they bring their produce to the market, some agents deliberately underweigh the vegetables. They allege that even if a farmer brings 100 kg of produce, the agents forcibly deduct 1-2 kg under the pretext of "kaat" (unofficial deduction), causing them direct financial loss.
