Couple killed, 2 injured as car falls into pond in Barabanki

Barabanki (UP), Apr 28 (UNI) An elderly couple was killed, and their son and daughter were injured when a car fell into a village pond in Haidergarh area of Barabanki district here in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that the incident took place when Jitendra Pratap Singh (58), a resident of Jagdishpur police station in Amethi district, along with his wife Anju Singh (55), son Ayush Singh (28) and daughter-in-law Shweta Singh (27) was going to Lucknow for treatment in his car.
Police sources said that near Daudpur village on the Purvanchal Expressway, the car went out of control after crossing the speed breaker and fell into a pond on the side of the road. "During this the car overturned several times, injuring all the passengers seriously," they said.
Police sources said that on the information of villagers and passersby, the Kotwali police reached the spot and took all the injured to the Community Health Center, Haidergarh where doctors declared Jitendra and his wife Manju dead. "Ayush and Shweta have been referred to Lohia Hospital, Lucknow in a serious condition," they said.
