Day temperatures above normal at isolated places over West Bengal & Sikkim

Pune, Mar 18(UNI) Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

The temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Bihar, Odisha; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Assam, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Vidarbha, Konkan, Goa, north interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema; at isolated places

over Saurashtra, Kutch, east Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura

and Madhya Maharashtra.

These were markedly below normal (-5.1°C or less) at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand; below normal (-3.0°C to -1.6°C) at many places over Rajasthan; at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country.

On Monday, heat wave to severe heat wave realised in north interior Odisha.

On Monday, the highest maximum temperature of 43.5°C was reported at Boudh (Odisha) over

the country.



Night temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal;

at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Saurashtra, Kutch, Konkan, Goa, north interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

These are appreciably below normal (-5.0°C to -3.1°C) at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, east Rajasthan; below normal (-3.0°C to -1.6°C) at a few places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand; at isolated places over Punjab, west Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country.

On Tuesday, the lowest minimum temperature of 11.2°C is reported at Karnal (Haryana) over the plains of the country.



Rain or thundershowers have occurred at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram,

Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Mainly dry weather has prevailed in west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalseema, coastal Karnataka, interior Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Following observations for the past 24 hrs were recorded at 0830 hrs on Tuesday.
