Development projects to undergo assessment through field visits

Lucknow, May 2 (UNI) To ensure transparency and on-ground accountability in urban development works, the Urban Development Department of Uttar Pradesh has announced that special field visits will be conducted to assess the real-time progress of various infrastructure projects.
The decision was taken during a review meeting of the Mukhyamantri Nagar Srijan Yojana. In line with the directive of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who emphasised that project evaluations must go beyond paperwork, the department will now make field-based monitoring mandatory.
Joint special teams, comprising state-level officials and members of the Project Management Unit (PMU), will be constituted for this purpose. These teams will physically inspect project sites to verify actual progress and adherence to quality standards.
Besides, district magistrates have been directed to conduct regular on-site reviews to ensure continuous local-level monitoring.
While chairing the meeting, Principal Secretary Urban Development Department, Amrit Abhijat said, "The Mukhyamantri Nagar Srijan Yojana is extremely important for the newly formed and expanded urban bodies in the state. Initiatives like field visits will help strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust."
Officials also emphasised the importance of completing projects on time without compromising quality. Future progress evaluations will be based on the findings of these field reports, which will serve as a critical tool in ensuring effective and honest implementation.
