ED files chargesheet against Ex-SDCC Bank chief

Bengaluru, June 9 (UNI) The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has filed a chargesheet under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against RM Manjunatha Gowda, former President of the Shimoga District Central Co-operative (SDCC) Bank and Karnataka State Co-operative Apex Bank.
The complaint was filed before the Special Court (PMLA) on June 6 in connection with a Rs 62.77 crore gold loan fraud at the City Branch of SDCC Bank and a separate case of possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs 3.95 crore, registered by the Lokayukta Police.
Earlier, Gowda was arrested by the ED on April 9, for his alleged involvement in laundering the proceeds of crime. He is currently in judicial custody.
In the course of investigation, the ED provisionally attached movable and immovable assets worth approximately ₹13.91 crore belonging to Gowda and his wife, under the provisions of the PMLA.
Further probe into the financial trail and associated transactions is underway. UNI BDN SSP
