Essex re-sign Pakistan paceman Amir for T20 Blast

London, May 1 (UNI) Essex have re-signed Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Amir for this season's T20 Blast.

The 33-year-old, who previously played for the club from 2017 to 2019, has taken 371 wickets in 322 T20 games around the world.

He also claimed 119 wickets in 36 Tests for Pakistan and has played 61 one-day internationals and 62 T20 matches for his country, the BBC reported.

"I know the experience and skillset he brings having worked with him with here before," said Essex director of cricket Chris Silverwood.

"He will certainly strengthen what is an already strong squad for our T20 Blast campaign this season."

Essex play their first Blast game at Hampshire Hawks on May 30.

Amir, who has recently been playing for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL),

will be available for the entire group stage, with an option to extend his stay for the knockout

phase, should they progress.

"I am very excited to join Essex once again," he said.

"I have always enjoyed my time at this club where I feel at home, and the love I received from the team and the amazing supporters was overwhelming," Amir added.
