Rio De Janeiro, Apr 22 (UNI) Former Brazil international midfielder Everton Ribeiro scored late as Bahia edged to a 1-0 home win over Ceara in Brazil's Serie A championship.
Ribeiro converted a 114th-minute penalty after Tiago Carvalho was brought down by Pedro Henrique on Monday.
"Tiago did a great job dribbling into the area and winning the penalty," Ribeiro told reporters after the match.
"I knew it was our last chance to score and emotions were running high. But I managed to stay calm and make our fans happy," added the 36-year-old, who earned 22 Brazil caps from 2014 to 2022.
The result marked Bahia's first win of the Brazilian top-flight season and leaves the club 13th in the 20-team standings with six points from five games, one point behind fifth-placed Ceara.
