Extortionist, militants nabbed in Manipur

Imphal, Apr 9 (UNI) An extortionist and two militants were nabbed in three separate operations during the last 24 hours in Manipur.
Police said on Wednesday that security forces patrolling along NH-02 between T Khullen and Koubru Laikha in Kangpokpi District while coming back from Koubru Laikha found some individuals stopping commercial trucks purportedly for extortion from the drivers near PK Workshop under Kangpokpi-PS.
On seeing the combined forces, these individuals fled away. However, the security forces apprehended one individual, namely, Lunminthang Guite of Khamenlok, Saikul.
Meanwhile, security forces arrested an active member of the outfit PREPAK (Pro), namely, Sagar of Leimakhong Mapal, Lamlai, Imphal East District from Sagolmang Bazar near CHC under Sagolmang-PS, Imphal East District.
In another incident, Manipur police arrested one active cadre of KCP (PWG), namely, Nanao of Loitang Khullen Maning Leikai under Sekmai-PS, Imphal West District from his residence. The arrested person is involved in extortion activities from government officials located in Imphal area police said.
Manipur Police also seized liquor while checking shops in Moreh Town under Moreh-PS, Tengnoupal District. At Churachandpur town, Manipur police seized whiskey, rum, beer cans. Police said all were destroyed in presence of media, Executive Magistrate and Excise personnel.
