Fire at Parmar univ causes extensive damage

Solan, May 1(UNI) Property and goods worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes in a fire that broke out in the canteen of YS Parmar University on Wednesday night.
As soon as people saw smoke coming out of the canteen around 2 am, they immediately informed the police and fire brigade. The fire brigade staff immediately reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire.
However, by the time the fire was extinguished, all the goods kept inside the canteen were reduced to ashes.
Prima facie, the fire has caused a loss of about Rs 10 lakh. This canteen was very close to the auditorium. If the fire brigade staff had not reached on time, a major accident could have happened and the surrounding buildings could have also caught fire. The police also reached the spot and took action.
