New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) An Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft, carrying 15 tonnes of relief material for earthquake victims in Myanmar landed in Yangon on Saturday morning.
The aircraft carried tents, blankets, sleeping bags, generators and essential medicines, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of life and property in Friday’s earthquake and offered all possible assistance to the Myanmar government.
The relief material also carried solar lamps and kitchen sets.
MEA spokesperson said that assistance is being provided to affected people under ‘Operation Brahma’.
It may be mentioned that Prime Minister had reached out to Myanmar Junta Chief Gen Min Aung Hlaing and conveyed “deep condolence” at the loss of lives in the devastating earth quake.
Indian officials and the rescue teams are ensuring that relief materials are being expeditiously dispatched to the affected areas.
Moreover, two more IAF aircrafts with relief material will leave for Myanmar.
