Five-day wet spell to begin in J&K from Tuesday

Srinagar, Apr 7 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience a five-day wet spell starting Tuesday, the Meteorological Department said.
While the weather is expected to remain mainly dry across the Union Territory over the next 24 hours, the MeT has forecast isolated to scattered light rain and thunderstorms beginning tomorrow.
According to the MeT , Kashmir is likely to witness fairly widespread rainfall on April 9 and 10, while the Jammu region may see scattered showers from April 9 to 11. The wet spell is expected to continue across J&K till April 12.
Meanwhile, the minimum night temperatures have remained 2 to 5°C above normal in most parts of Kashmir and 3 to 5°C above normal across Jammu division.
The famous tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the Valley at 4.4°C, while Bhaderwah was the coldest in Jammu division at 11.1°C.
The summer capital Srinagar registered a minimum temperature of 9.4°C, which is 2.5°C above the normal for this time of year.
The ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, saw a minimum of 6.0°C, which is 5.s°C higher than average.
The day temperatures continued to soar across Jammu and Kashmir, with maximum temperatures remaining 7 to 9°C above normal in most parts of Kashmir and 5 to 7°C above normal in Jammu division.
