Five killed in blast at Spanish coal mine - Official

Madrid, Mar 31 (UNI) An explosion at a coal mine in the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain killed five people and injured another one on Monday, regional governor Adrian Barbon said.
"We have been informed about a terrible accident at the Zarreu mine, which left five people died and another one seriously injured. My deepest condolences to their families," he wrote on X.
The government of the Principality of Asturias said all people were accounted for. The age of the victims ranged from 32 to 54. It declared two days of mourning for those killed.
According to the preliminary information, a machine detonated causing burns and injuries to those nearby. Authorities said the incident occurred while miners were working under a mining permit to produce graphite.
