Five of a family killed in Hubballi accident

Hubballi, May 6 (UNI) In a tragic road accident, five members of a family, including three women, were killed on the spot when their car collided with a lorry near Kiresur village under Hubballi Rural Police Station limits early Tuesday morning.

The victims, identified as Vittala Shetty (56), Shashikala Shetty (52), Shweta Shetty (28), Anjali Shetty (26), and Sandip Shetty (25), were travelling from Sagar in Shivamogga district to Kulageri in Bagalkot district when the accident occurred about 20 km from Hubballi on the Hubballi-Bagalkot National Highway.

According to Dharwad Superintendent of Police Gopal Byakod, the car lost control and crashed into a lorry coming from the opposite direction, resulting in the immediate deaths of all the occupants. The lorry driver escaped unhurt.

All the bodies have been shifted to the Karnataka Medical College and Research Institute (KMCRI) Hospital in Hubballi for post-mortem and other formalities before being handed over to the family members.
