Gujarat Titans opt to field against KKR in IPL clash

Gujarat Titans opt to field against KKR in IPL clash

Ahmedabad, Mar 25 (UNI) Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to field against Kolkata Knight Riders in the fifth match of the IPL 2025 here at Narendra Modi Stadium here on Tuesday.

Eight teams have already plied their trade so far in the tournament. While the first three games were mostly one-sided, DC versus LSG turned out to be a cliffhanger last night.

The decks have been quite flat across all venues so far, and the wicket at Ahmedabad is known to favour the batsmen.

Speaking at the toss, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer said he would have preferred to chase, expressing his affinity for taking on challenges. "I would have loved to bowl. I am always someone who loves a chase. There are so many familiar faces around, including Ricky. You need unity and synergy in the team. We have got a lot of allrounders in the squad, and we are spoilt for choices," he said.

With KKR set to bat first, Iyer revealed their team composition, stating, "We have only one spinner and three seamers."

GT captain Shubman Gill cited dew as a key factor behind his decision to bowl first. "We will bowl first. It is a good cricketing wicket, but there is some dew here, and we have kept that in mind. Dew plays a big role in chasing big targets. Our preparation has been amazing, and we have all our bases covered," he said.

Gill expressed confidence in Gujarat's bowling attack and the opportunity to perform on a grand stage. "We are very fortunate to play at the biggest stage in the world. Our bowling attack is strong, with four pacers and two spinners," he added.

Teams

Gujarat Titans (Playing XI): Shubman Gill(c), Jos Buttler(w), Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Arshad Khan, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna
