Himachal emerging as hub of possibilities and solutions: Governor Shukla

Dharamshala, July 2 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh is no longer just a state of scenic mountains but is fast transforming into a centre of opportunities and solutions, said Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla while inaugurating the Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) Exhibition in Dharamshala today.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor highlighted the state’s natural diversity, agriculture-based economy, scientific mindset, technological innovation, and hardworking population as critical contributors to India’s growth story.
“The event reflects the vision of a strong, self-reliant, and prosperous India as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said. He urged all organisations to actively participate in fulfilling this vision by supporting innovative efforts being made towards national development.
He emphasised that true development includes not only economic and technological aspects but also social progress. Referring to the ongoing Drug-Free Himachal campaign launched from the Governor’s office, Shukla said, “Addiction not only ruins individual lives but also saps the energy and productivity of society.”
"Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) must encompass not only economic empowerment but also mental, physical, and social well-being," he added.
The Governor stressed that the vision of "Destination Himachal" can only be realised by building a healthy, empowered, and addiction-free society. He applauded the collective efforts of schools, panchayats, NGOs, youth, local organizations, and volunteers in transforming the anti-drug campaign into a mass movement.
He called upon entrepreneurs, planners, and social activists present at the event to integrate de-addiction efforts into the mainstream development agenda, calling it a form of “social investment” that yields both economic and humanitarian dividends.
Governor Shukla expressed confidence that platforms like this exhibition would take Himachal’s emerging strengths and the message of Aatmanirbhar Bharat to national and international stages. UNI AR SSP
