Himachal: Holi turns tragic as two youths drown in Seer Ravine in Bilaspur

Bilaspur, Mar 15 (UNI) On the occasion of Holi in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, a tragic incident occurred in which two youths lost their lives due to drowning in the Seer ravine.
SP Bilaspur Sandeep Dhawal informed that the duo had left home on the pretext of playing Holi but later went to take a bath in the ravine.
Unfortunately, they slipped and drowned, leading to their untimely deaths on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Ashwani Kumar (15), son of Vidhi Chand, resident of Managan, and Gopal Mani (34), son of Krishan Dev, resident of Bharinti.
As soon as the incident was reported, a team from Jhanduta Police Station, led by Inspector Ashwani Kumar, reached the site. With the help of local people, the bodies were retrieved from the water, but both had already passed away.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem at Ghumarvi Hospital today, after which they will be handed over to their families for the last rites, scheduled to take place in their respective native villages this afternoon.
This is not the first such accident in the Seer ravine; similar incidents have occurred before. A warning board has already been placed at the spot, but despite this, some people ignore the danger. Yesterday, after playing Holi, at around 3 PM, both youths went to bathe in the ravine.
Upon seeing them drowning, bystanders shouted for help, and some local swimmers attempted a rescue. However, by the time they were pulled out, it was too late.
Bodies were handed to both the families after the postmortem.
