History sheeter shot at, nabbed in TN

Chennai, June 19 (UNI) A history-sheeter, who was wanted in an attempt to
murder case, was shot at and arrested by the police when they went to arrest
him at Arikkarampalayam near Karur on Thursday.
The history sheeter was identified as Tamilalagan (30), who along with three of
his associates attacked a person in Karur on Tuesday night.
Acting on complaint from the victim, who was later admitted to hospital, Karur
Town police registered an attempt to murder case and arrested three of his
associates yesterday.
When a special team after obtaining specific leads about the whereabouts of
Tamilalagan went to arrest him, he tried to attack the police with weapons and
tried to flee.
However, police in an act of self defence shot him at his leg an arrested him.
He was later admitted to Government hospital for treatment.

AP: Free bus services by APSRTC for devotees within Tirumala

Tirumala, June 16 (UNI) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Additional Executive officer Ch Venkaiah Chowdary on Thursday informed that state-owned APSRTC buses have been made available to ply within Tirumala transporting devotees free of cost.
Talking to reporters after flagging off the free RTC bus trips at Ashwini Hospital Circle in Tirumala, Chowdary said to prevent the high fares charged by private vehicles from devotees and to control pollution in Tirumala, TTD asked APSRTC to operate buses.
The RTC officials responded positively and came forward to operate buses.
