ICFAI signs MoU with BITS Pilani to foster collaboration in research, innovation

Hyderabad, Apr 18 (UNI) The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE), Hyderabad, and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here aims to foster collaboration in research, innovation, and skill development in the crucial domain of national security.
The MoU was signed by Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani and Prof. L S Ganesh, Vice Chancellor of IFHE here on Thursday.
Under the partnership, BITS Pilani will channel its efforts through the Centre for Research, Excellence in National Security (CRENS) while ICFAI will operate this collaboration through its IFHE Innovation & Entrepreneurship Council (IIEC).
The collaboration is aimed at synergizing the strengths of both institutions to undertake joint research projects, consultancy assignments, skill development initiatives, startup co-incubation, and resource sharing, with a focus on cutting-edge technologies and challenges relevant to national security.
Dr. G Satish Reddy, Former Chairperson, DRDO, currently Advisor to the Andhra Pradesh Government, who attended the event as Guest of Honour, congratulated both the institutions on this alliance and wished them good luck.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. L S. Ganesh emphasized that ICFAI will extend its full support to facilitate the research activities of the students from both the institutes.
He also said that “ICFAI will soon come up with the state-of-the-art center of excellence to foster the startup activities and will help them to transform into enterprises”.
Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, highlighted the commitment of BITS towards National Security and said they will come forward to contribute seed money grant to help the startups.
He also said that BITS will closely work with ICFAI to encourage more and more students to take up innovative projects and to setup startups and thereby encouraging them to become entrepreneurs in the future.
Key highlights of the partnership include Joint research and consultancy projects in national security; Co-development of skill development programs for professionals; Organization of conferences, workshops, and grand hackathons; Mentorship and co-incubation support for startups through shared innovation ecosystems and infrastructure sharing to enhance the academic-research interface.
Speaking at the event, representatives from both institutions emphasised the importance of academia-industry-government collaboration in addressing the emerging security challenges faced by the nation.
This MoU is expected to pave the way for high-impact research, foster a culture of innovation, and contribute significantly to national capacity building in the security and defense sectors.
