Indian Army hosts Strategic Seminar on ‘Resurgent Arunachal’ at Likabali

Itanagar, Mar 22 (UNI) The Indian Army organized a Strategic Seminar on ‘Resurgent Arunachal: Integrated Approach to Security and Development’ at Likabali Military Station, bringing together senior military officials, policymakers, academicians, and local dignitaries to deliberate on Arunachal Pradesh’s strategic importance, development trajectory, and evolving security landscape.
Gracing the event, Arunachal Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik highlighted the state’s sensitive and strategically vital borders and the need for its constant vigilance.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening security along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) through technological advancements and active community involvement.
Highlighting the intersection of security and development, the Governor stated that Arunachal Pradesh stands at a crucial juncture where both aspects must work in synergy to ensure a prosperous future.
He underscored the role of integrating local communities with security forces, fostering mutual trust, and adopting a collaborative approach to border safeguarding.
The Governor outlined the state's vision for growth, which includes modernizing governance, improving the quality of life, and promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
The Governor commended GOC, 3 Corps, Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, and the 56 Infantry Division for organizing the seminar, acknowledging it as a crucial platform for discussing the region's history, transformation, and the strategic role of information warfare, laying the foundation for future initiatives.
The two-day seminar featured insightful discussions on various themes, including the Puranic connections, ancient trade routes, the evolution of tribal society, and the transformation dynamics of Arunachal Pradesh. Key topics such as Operation Sadbhavana, crisis management, cultural sensitivity, inclusivity, and the role of media in narrative-building were also deliberated.
Experts underscored Arunachal Pradesh’s historical significance in shaping India’s frontier policies, the region’s impressive infrastructural and socio-economic advancements, and the growing impact of information warfare on national security.
Senior military officers stressed the need for a synergized civil-military approach to ensure balanced development while addressing security concerns. Policymakers and scholars acknowledged the impact of infrastructure projects, improved connectivity, and government initiatives in transforming the state.
The seminar reaffirmed the collective commitment of all stakeholders to an integrated strategy, reinforcing Arunachal Pradesh’s role in India’s security and development framework, Defence sources said.
The active engagement of Governor Parnaik, and local youth in the discussions underscored the region’s growing significance and the need for a holistic, future-ready approach, they added.
