Indian engineers team assessing quake-affected sites in Myanmar

Nay Pyi Taw/New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) After assessing six affected sites in quake-hit Mandalay, the safety and demolition engineers team from India assessed six quake affected sites in Naypyitaw today, as part of Operation Brahma, the MEA said.

An Orthopaedic surgeon from the Indian Army Medical team is assisting in the treatment of 70 patients at a Nay Pyi Taw Hospital.
The Indian Army Field Hospital at Mandalay has treated 281 patients, and conducted seven major and 38 minor surgeries.
A total of 1,651 patients have been treated till April 9 evening at the Army Field Hospital, the MEA said.
The Indian Army Engineer team (19 ER) and one Ortho Specialist from Field Hospital moved from Mandalay to Nay Pyi Taw for meetings with the Myanmar Ministry of Construction on demolition assessment of select buildings, and Health Ministry on specialist prosthetics advice for 70 patients, respectively.
Myanmar was hit by a massive 7.9 magnitude earthquake on March 28, and several aftershocks on the following days. Over 3,000 people have died, and hundreds are injured and missing.
