Indian paddlers return home with 13 gold medals in Youth Table Tennis Championships

Kolkata, Apr 28 (UNI) India concluded the 2025 South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships
in Kathmandu, Nepal, with an impressive haul of 13 gold and three silver medals, Table Tennis Federation of India (TFFI).
The qualification event for this year’s Youth Asian Championships saw the Indian contingent dominate the competition across various categories on Sunday.
The Indian teams grabbed three gold medals in the Under-19 Girls, Under-15 Boys, and Under-15 Girls sections and made a clean sweep of all six golds in the U-19 and U-15 doubles, including the mixed doubles events. Additionally, India secured four singles golds in the U-19 Boys and Girls categories.
However, the hosts Nepal claimed the fourth gold in the U-19 Boys category. Despite a lone loss to Pakistan in the five-team league phase, Nepal finished on top with seven points, securing three wins and edging out Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, who took second and third place, respectively.
India, having qualified for the Youth Asian Youth Championships last year, did not have to field its squad in the competition.
In the team events, Pritha Vartikar, Ananya Chande, Hardee Patel, and Diya Bramhachary clinched the U-19 Girls' gold, defeating Nepal 3-1. Prateeti Paul, Aarushi Nandi, Advika Arawal, and Tanmayee Saha triumphed in the U-15 Girls' category, thrashing Sri Lanka 3-0.
In the U-15 Boys' event, Atharva Nawrnge, Vishruth Ramakrishnan, Akash Rajavelu, and Prateek Tulsani dominated the competition, winning all their league-phase matches to top the group and remain undefeated for the gold.
In the U-19 Boys' singles final, Kushal Chopda triumphed over fellow Indian R. Balamurugan 3-1 to claim the gold, as the Indians secured the top two spots. In the U-19 Girls' singles, Ananya Chande defeated Pritha Vartikar 3-1 to take the gold, leaving Pritha with the silver.
The U-15 Boys' singles title was claimed by Vishruth Ramakrishnan, who overcame Muham Abdal Khan 3-2 in a thrilling final. In the U-15 Girls' final, Prateeti beat compatriot Aarushi 3-1 to clinch the gold.
In U-19 doubles, Preysh Raj Suresh and Naman Bhatnagar won the gold, defeating Nepal's Gananjaya Dahal and Prabesh Basnet 3-1. In the U-19 Girls' doubles, Pritha Vartikar and
Ananya Chande triumphed over Nepal's Evana Thapa and Bianca Rai, winning 3-1.
In the U-15 Boys' doubles, Atharva Nawrnge and Vishruth Ramakrishnan defeated Nepal's Prajil
and Jayashnu Maharjan 3-1 to take the gold. Prateeti and Aarushi Nandi sealed the U-15 Girls' doubles title with a 3-0 win over Nepal's Subhashree and Prajina Maharjan.
Kushal Chopda and Pritha Vartikar claimed the U-19 mixed doubles gold, beating the Maldives' Hassan Zeek and Muizzu Malaak 3-1. Atharva Nawrnge and Prateeti Paul also triumphed in the
U-15 mixed doubles, defeating Pakistan's Muhammad Abdal Khan and Zunaira Khan 3-0.
