Jerusalem, Mar 23 (UNI) Israel, through Egyptian intermediaries, presented to Palestinian movement Hamas a two-stage plan to free hostages from the Gaza Strip, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported, citing unnamed informed Egyptian sources.
According to the agency, Israel's plan assumes that in the first stage Hamas will free 11 hostages and hand over the bodies of 16 of the dead, after which a 40-day truce will follow.
Later in the second phase, Hamas will have to release all the remaining hostages at the same time, Xinhua added.
The United States supports Israel's proposal, the sources told the agency.
