Tel Aviv/Washington, April 6 (UNI) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to visit Washington on April 7 to meet with US President Donald Trump to address both the Gaza situation, as well as the new 17% tariffs imposed on Israel in the US’ latest ‘reciprocal tariffs’ policy.

Netanyahu confirmed his visit to the United States on April 5, with his office saying that the two sides would also discuss “efforts to reach a hostage deal, Israel-Turkey relations, the Iranian threat, and confronting the International Criminal Court,” according to The Times of Israel.

The visit will make Netanyahu the first leader to visit Trump and discuss with him in-person the tariff issue, specifically the 17% tariffs on Israeli imports. In addition, Washington and Tel Aviv will also discuss the precarious Gaza situation, as the Iran-backed-terror group – the Houthis, have been launching ballistic missiles in Israel, and attacking American naval ships in the Red Sea, along with Tehran’s nuclear programme.

“The prime minister appreciates the personal and warm relationship with President Trump,” said the statement from the Israel premier’s office, “and thanks him for inviting him to be the first leader to meet with him after the imposition of global tariffs, just as he was also the first leader to meet with him after entering the White House.”
