J&K: Police conducts raids on banned separatist groups in several Kashmir districts

Srinagar, Mar 25 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police intensified its crackdown on banned separatist organizations on Tuesday, conducting raids in multiple districts of Kashmir as part of ongoing action against separatist elements.
Officials said the raids were conducted in Kupwara, Handwara and Sopore.
Police conducted multiple raids across the border district of Kupwara, targeting individuals associated with proscribed outfits such as Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Muslim League and Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party.
Early morning raids were conducted at village Kralpora, Khurhama, main town Kupwara and Trussu Dragmulla, police said.
Led by senior officers, police carried out searches at the residential premises of separatist elements suspected of involvement in unlawful activities that pose a threat to public order and national security.
“During the search operations, law enforcement officials seized incriminating material linked to the activities of these banned outfits. The recovered items are now under investigation, forming a crucial part of multiple FIRs registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA),” police said.
The raids were conducted in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses to ensure full legal adherence and procedural transparency.
Police also carried out searches at multiple locations, residences of individuals linked to the banned organization Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (G) in Handwara sub-district.
“The searches were conducted in connection with the investigation of case registered in 2024 at Handwara Police Station,” police said.
During search incriminating material was found, police said, adding further investigation is going on.
In Sopore sub-district, Police carried out an extensive search operation in Botingoo area as part of an ongoing investigation into a case involving members of the proscribed organisation Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF), led by Nayeem Ahmed Khan
The raid specifically targeted the residence of a person believed to be associated with the banned outfit. Jammu and Kashmir National Front was officially declared a banned organisation in December 2024 due to its unlawful activities.
Officials said key documents and digital evidence were seized during the search operation, which will aid further investigations.
Monday saw similar search operations in South Kashmir, with police raiding multiple locations in Pulwama, Awantipora, Shopian, and Kulgam as part of their continued crackdown.
