Jammu, Mar 24 (UNI) The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is transforming lives through advanced jaw surgeries, offering patients the opportunity to enhance their facial profile, improve functionality, and boost their confidence at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu.
A handout issued here said that the surgical procedure performed for the patient included jawline contouring through a combination of mandibular angle reduction (angleplasty) and excision of the hypertrophic masseter muscle to reduce the width of the lower face.
Conducted under general anaesthesia for maximum patient comfort, the procedure was meticulously performed by Dr Amanjot Kaur, Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and her team, while anaesthesia support was efficiently provided by Dr Raksha Kundal and Dr. Kanika Gupta, ensuring a safe and smooth surgical experience.
The successful completion of the jawline sculpting procedure showcases the high-level expertise and advanced surgical facilities available at AIIMS Jammu.
Prof. (Dr.) Saurabh Kumar Gupta, Head of the Department of Dentistry, commended the efforts of the surgical team, highlighting the achievement as a significant step towards enhancing the department's profile and clinical services.
He remarked, “The successful execution of such cosmetic and functional surgeries is a giant leap towards establishing AIIMS Jammu as a centre for advanced maxillofacial surgeries.”
Executive Director and CEO of Jammu AIIMS, Dr. Shakti Kumar Gupta, said, “these surgeries will be a boon for patients suffering from facial asymmetry, broad jaws, or deformities requiring corrective jaw surgeries. They also reduce the need for patients to seek treatment outside the state, providing them with world-class surgical care within their region.”
The introduction of corrective jaw surgeries at AIIMS Jammu is expected to bring immense relief to patients from Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and neighbouring states.
