Hyderabad, Apr 6 (UNI) Union Minister and BJP Telangana State President G Kishan Reddy unfurled the party flag at the BJP state office in Hyderabad on Sunday on the occasion of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Foundation Day.
The day also coincided with Sri Rama Navami, adding spiritual significance to the celebrations.
In his address, Kishan Reddy extended heartfelt greetings to party workers, supporters, and the people of Telangana. He reflected on the BJP’s journey since its inception on April 6, 1980, under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, noting how the party—once doubted by many—has now become a dominant political force in India.
“The BJP was founded with the goal of elevating India to supreme glory, uplifting the poor and marginalised, and building a strong and developed nation,” he said. Paying tribute to early party leaders and martyrs, including activists who laid down their lives combating Naxalism and terrorism, Reddy honoured their sacrifices for the party's ideology.
Highlighting the party’s adherence to moral values, he recalled how the BJP once gave up power at the Centre despite being short of just one vote, emphasising that the BJP places principles above politics.
Reddy lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, crediting him with steering the country towards remarkable progress—from grassroots sanitation to space achievements like Chandrayaan. He also cited key milestones such as the abrogation of Article 370, the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, the abolition of triple talaq, and strides in economic reforms and foreign diplomacy.
“From a tea seller to the Prime Minister, the BJP has proven that leadership is not the preserve of dynasties, but of dedication and vision,” he stated.
Focusing on Telangana, Reddy asserted that the people are increasingly looking to the BJP after decades of failed promises by Congress, TDP, and BRS. “With growing public support, as seen in the recent MLC elections and the backing of 77 lakh voters in the parliamentary polls, the BJP is poised to emerge as a viable alternative,” he declared.
He urged party workers to intensify their efforts, expose the “conspiracies” of Congress and BRS, and counter their alleged alliance with the MIM party. He accused both Congress and BRS of undermining Telangana’s interests for political gains and called on people from all walks of life—intellectuals, artists, and youth—to rally behind the BJP.
On the occasion, Reddy also announced a series of party initiatives, including flag-hoisting drives at households, honouring senior party workers, inducting new members, and organising grand celebrations for Atal Bihari Vajpayee's centenary and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary from April 14 to 22.
“Let us all work with renewed zeal and dedication to ensure that the BJP flag flies high across Telangana,” he added.
