Jaipur, Apr 28 (UNI) Afghanistan allrounder Karim Janat was drafted into the Rajasthan Royals' playing XI as stand-in Captain Riyan Parag won the toss and elected to field against Gujarat Titans in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash here on Monday.
Janat replaced Fazalhaq Farooqi, while Maheesh Theekshana also came into the side, with Tushar Deshpande making way.
Speaking at the toss, Parag said the surface appeared similar to the one used against Lucknow Super Giants, with the prospect of low bounce and some dew influencing the decision to bowl first. "We’ll bowl first. Should be a good wicket. Saw some dew last night. Everyone in our team has gone through situations like this and they know how to get out of it.
We've had honest talks. Just have to put a game together collectively," he said.
Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill said he would have chosen to bowl as well but backed his side to adapt. "It looks like a good wicket. Some grass on it, always nice to see that. We are looking to take each game as it is, not looking at the past. Important to be ruthless in this format," Gill said.
