Kerala: Ragesh appointed as CPI(M) Kannur district secretary

Kannur, Apr 15 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's Private Secretary and CPI(M) State Committee member K K Ragesh has been appointed as the party's Kannur district Secretary on Tuesday.
The present Kannur district secretary M V Jayarajan was included in the CPI(M) State secretariat, recently, and this led to his replacement, in the district meeting held today.
The District Committee meeting was held at the District Committee (DC) office here in the presence of State secretary M V Govindan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Vijayan proposed the name of Raghesh and he was appointed as district secretary unopposed and M V Govindan announced the decision of the meeting .
K K Ragesh (55), of Kanhirode in Kannur district, also served as Rajya Sabha member in 2015 . He was appointed as Chief Minister's private secretary in 2021.
Ragesh started his political career through Students Federation of India (SFI) and holds the post of District president and secretary, and later elected as SFI National General Secretary.
He was a Post Graduate (PG) in English Literature and LLB . His wife Priya Vargheese, was an Associate professor in Kannur University.
Former District secretary M V Jayarajan was serving as the district secretary since 2019, as the successor of P Jayarajan, following the latter had contested from the Vadakara Lok Sabha Constituency in the election held in 2019.
