Kirmani highlights responsible event management

Bengaluru, Jun 5 (UNI) Former India wicketkeeper Syed Mujtaba Hussain Kirmani on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) victory celebrations, urging authorities to reflect on the importance of careful planning and patience.
Speaking to the media, Kirmani described the incident as heart-wrenching and said it was a painful reminder of the risks involved when events are hurriedly arranged.
"RCB waited 18 long years for this moment. The celebrations were understandably joyous but perhaps could have waited a few more days to allow players rest and proper arrangements to be made," he said.
Kirmani emphasised that the short notice between the team’s return and the felicitation made managing the massive crowd extremely challenging. He acknowledged the immense passion of RCB fans but highlighted the need for that enthusiasm to be matched with meticulous organisation.
"This is a learning moment for all involved. Organisers and administrators must understand that haste in such high-voltage events can be dangerous. Patience is key," Kirmani remarked.
While refraining from blaming any individual or agency, Kirmani stressed the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure safety in future events.
Offering his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, he called for immediate support and care for the bereaved.
"Every problem has a solution. What happened is deeply unfortunate and cannot be undone. But let us work together to ensure such incidents are never repeated," he said.
Kirmani’s measured comments highlight the delicate balance between celebrating sporting triumphs and ensuring public safety, urging organisers to take lessons from this tragedy.
