KTR blames Cong govt for farmer’s death due to heatstroke at procurement centre

Hyderabad, May 12 (UNI) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) expressed deep sorrow over the death of a farmer, Gugulothu Kishan (51), who reportedly died of heatstroke while waiting at a crop procurement centre in Pochampally village, Pedda Wangara mandal of Mahabubabad district.

Condemning the incident, KTR held the Congress government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directly responsible. “While the Chief Minister is busy attending beauty pageants, a farmer has died on top of grain heaps due to negligence. This is not just mismanagement—this is murder,” he said in a statement here on Monday.

KTR alleged that the government failed to provide investment assistance, misled farmers with false promises of loan waivers, and neglected to procure harvested crops on time.

“Grain is rotting in untimely rains, and farmers are left to suffer under the scorching sun. The Congress government is fully responsible for this distress,” he added.

He also pointed out that farmers have been stranded at procurement centres for weeks without any help, raising concerns about whether the state government is functioning at all.

Demanding immediate relief, KTR urged the state government to support the bereaved family of the deceased farmer and called for urgent procurement of grain stocks lying in the open.

“If the CM has any concern left for the farmers, he must act now, or face their growing fury,” he warned.
