Local content creation to make global impact: Debera Richards

Mumbai, May 3 (UNI) As content-rich presentation is important in any medium to succeed and survive in the entertainment competition, strong content creation on local topics is influential at the global level, said senior production expert Debera Richards on Saturday.
Speaking at a symposium on the Motion Picture Association (MPA) report on the economic contribution of the Television and Online Curated Content (OCC) industry at the WAVES 2025, Audiovisual Entertainment Summit” organised at the Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex here, she said that as consumers have the right to decide through which medium they want to consume the desired content, it is important for consumers to watch and listen to the content they want, whether on television, OTT, or any screen available to them.
If the content is presented in a more attractive, useful and informative manner, the more it will be able to strengthen its position in the market and the preference of the consumers, so efforts should be made to create excellent content, she noted.
Similarly, the richness of the content is the most important thing to succeed in the entertainment competition and survive for a long time.
Keeping this in mind, it is necessary to understand the preferences, needs of local consumers and the value of content creation.
What is effective, eye-catching and resonates with consumers at the local level is also highly successful at the global level, Ms Richards added.
The panellists included Kelly Day, Kevin Vaz, Debera Richards, Caitlin Yarnall and Justin Warrock. The panel was moderated by Urmila Venugopalan.
Experts participating in the symposium expressed opinion that the formula from local to global should be central while creating content.
