New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was adjourned twice on Thursday first till 2 pm and later for the day, after members of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and other parties created a ruckus on the issue of delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies.
As soon as the House re-assembled at 2 pm, DMK members wearing T-shirts came into the Well of the House raising slogans against delimitation.
Presiding officer Krishna Prasad Tenneti urged the members not to create ruckus and allow the House proceedings to continue.
He informed that a crucial topic was to be addressed, urging the members to go back to their seats and allow the discussion to take place. However, the agitating members did not pay heed to the request of the Chair and continued with ruckus, forcing the Chair to adjourn the House for the day.
Earlier in the day, the Lok Sabha was adjourned until 2 pm after several Opposition MPs, including those from Congress and TMC arrived wearing T-shirts with slogans criticising the government over the delimitation issue. They were also raising slogans.
Meanwhile, Speaker Om Birla asked the Opposition members not to enter the House wearing T-shirts with slogans written on them. He called this as a “violation of Parliamentary decorum”, thus leading to the adjournment of the House. UNI RBE SSP
