Maha: CM dedicates new 83 ft tall statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj installed at Malvan fort

Kolhapur / Sindhudurg, May 11 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Sunday that the state government will develop the Rajkot fort area to give tourists experience of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's 'Swarajya'.
He stated this at dedication function of a new 83 feet tall statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj installed at Rajkot in Malvan tehsil of Sindhudurg district, in place of a 35 feet statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which had collapsed on August 26, 2024.
Talking to reporters after 'pujan' of the said statue, he said that to give feeling of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's 'Swarajya' to visitors, the land surrounding Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue on the fort will be acquired.
Fadnavis further said, "After unfortunate incident of collapse of the statue in 2024, we had resolved to install a new statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the same place and today, it was installed again and this was a moment of pride and satisfaction for all of us."
The new statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, installed at Rajkot Fort, is 83 feet tall on the pedestal of 10 feet (measuring total 93 feet high) and weighs 40 tons. This statue is made of bronze. It contains 88 percent copper and eight percent iron. The sword in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's hand weighs 2300 kg.
The previous statue was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on occasion of Navy Day on December four, 2023, but just six months later, on August 26, 2024, it suddenly collapsed.
