Mumbai, May 4 (UNI) Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi-led central government over its retaliatory / punitive action against Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, terming it as 'soft and symbolic' as compared to its action against their political opponents within the country.
Speaking to reporters here, he said that following the Pahalgam terror attack, India has imposed strict
economic sanctions on Pakistan, blocked port access for Pakistani ships and blocked 21 Pakistani YouTube channels but these moves are soft and symbolic as present government go after their political opponents with full force—breaking their parties, putting them in jail, destroying their families.
But when it comes to Pakistan, the government just closes the airspace and blocks the Pakistani YouTube channels, he remarked and asked, "Is this really revenge?"
Questioning the effectiveness of its measures, Raut said that in past the way former prime minister late Indira Gandhi responded to threats and Pakistan (Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971)... she reshaped the subcontinent.
"Today, the prime minister just goes around hugging people, fooling citizens, and calls it an action (against Pakistan and terrorism). There has been no concrete retaliation. Everything seems calm and pleasant while innocent people are dying. I am beginning to fear for this country,” Raut added.
