Mumbai, Apr 3 (UNI) Police arrested a shopkeeper for obstructing police duties, misbehaving with a lady police officer, using obscene language and issuing death threats, officials said here on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Sharif Mohammad Salim Sheikh, also known as Guddu, runs a footwear business in Govandi area of the city suburb.
The incident occurred late on Sunday night around 11.15 pm near Ekvira Hotel Road in PMGP Colony of Mankhurd in Govandi, police said.
The complainant, a police officer, was on duty when the altercation took place.
A special police team was patrolling in the area when they noticed Mohammad Sharif running his shop during restricted time. When officers instructed him to close his shop, he refused and started arguing with them.
During the heated exchange, Sharif reportedly directed obscene remarks toward the woman officer and issued a threat, saying, “Many police officers like you have come and gone. Don’t mess with me, or I will kill you.”
Following this a case was registered and the accused was arrested, police said.
