Man kills brother in MP’s Khairagarh over marriage dispute

Khairagarh, May 17 (UNI) A shocking incident of fratricide has been reported in Khairagarh district of Chhattisgarh. A younger brother, Rakesh Mandavi, allegedly beat his elder brother, Pradeep Mandavi, to death over a dispute related to marriage, police said on Saturday.

According to the police, the incident occurred in Rengakathera village in the Nagar police station area on Friday night when Rakesh, who was upset about not being married, attacked Pradeep with a bamboo stick. Pradeep died on the spot due to the injuries.

SDOP Asha Rani said that the preliminary investigation revealed that Rakesh had been harbouring resentment towards his elder brother, believing that he was deliberately delaying his marriage. This led to a dispute between the two brothers, which escalated into a violent attack.

The accused is currently absconding, and a search operation is underway in the village. The police have assured that the accused will be arrested soon.

The deceased, Pradeep, was the eldest of three brothers. The family has been left devastated after the middle brother took his own life a few years ago, and now the youngest brother has committed a heinous crime, leaving one brother dead, one deceased by suicide, and the third brother absconding as a murderer.
