Shillong, Apr 8 (UNI) The Meghalaya Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Meghalaya Witness Protection Scheme, 2025 to protect witnesses against imminent threats during investigations and trials.
Under the new laws -Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) – there is a provision to have a witness protection scheme.
“A system is to be created to protect witnesses, and based on that, we have approved the rules for the Meghalaya Witness Protection Scheme, 2025, and there are many details to it,” Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said.
